Backyard Happenings

The weather has finally started to get nice here in New England and that means two things, deck parties and baseball. As you know we decided that after picking pressure treated splinters out of screaming kids we decided to redo the deck. Everyone has been working pretty hard on the weekends and after work and we have made some progress.

The boys all used as much muscle as they had to pull the old decking off.

Then after a little new framing we started adding the decking.

All of the deck boards are finally on and Amy used some of her muscle (as you can see) to plug all of the screw holes. I hope you all bought your tickets to the gun show.

Lastly, one of the stair sets is finally secured to the deck. This is quite an accomplishment since the last set was kind of an adventure, think of a rope bridge, but scarier.

That leaves us with baseball and Mother's Day. The first birdhouse we made Amy is now inhabited by a nice family of birds and she wanted another. Everett and I cooked one up out of plans from a library book. He even pulled the trigger on the nail gun to put it together (once or twice). It makes a pretty loud noise. Then he painted it and here it is. Happy Mother's Day Amy. You are a wonderful mother and all of us boys that surround you love you very much.

Last but not least baseball. Daddy is pretty proud of his little slugger. Everett is only 3 years old and can track a pitch like a champ. Here is a video of him hitting a couple wiffle balls. After this he said to Daddy "throw me a slider." I think there may be a future here, hopefully Red Sox but he seems to like the Yankees (they pay the most, it's expensive to buy championships.)

A love story.

So indeed we have proven ourselves to be crazy, so lets examine that. Our new puppy did keep the name Delilah instead of our other choice, Lola, for two reasons. 1) Lola is a song that once it is in your head does not come out. 2) we flipped a coin and 5 times in a row the coin said to name her Delilah. The gods are pretty good to us, so we decided not to mess with their decision. Delilah it is. So Delilah and the boys absolutely love each other (well all the boys except Napolean who refuses to get within 2 feet of her). Everett says she is his bestest friend and cuddles her at every opportunity. And she loves it (unlike Naploean who refuses to get within 10 feet of him - see the theme).

So on top of a new puppy, we decided the deck needed some love too (this is after a few splinterectomies from some very unhappy little boys). So we ordered some new decking and started demolition.

As you can see, this was probably the right decision....

Other news; Jack has expanded his vocabulary. He now walks around pointing at everything in sight and saying WHhhhhhhhatttttts Zat (whats that). You let him know and he tries his best to repeat it. VERY CUTE!
and a great one liner from our niece Clare; Mommy, I want to be a swinger when I grow up. (to clarify, her parents are "fit". She just got a new swing set for the back yard).
