He is a Pooper

Everett is getting used to home life and starting to get used to our schedule. He still goes to bed around 9:30 and then wakes up around 2:30, he then sleeps the rest of the night. Yesterday was my first day back to work and Amy's first day home along with him. He decided to give her hell in the form of poop. He went through 3 outfits yesterday. I myself got peed on last night when I got home. Here is the picture Amy took for me so that I could share in the wonderful day. I guess this diaper wasn't quite on right.

Week Old

Everett is almost a week old. He is doing well and Amy is recovering. He had his first Dr's visit on Friday where he barely cried and the Dr. says he has the strength of a 1-month-old. I guess we are going to have our hands full. He definately recognizes Amy's voice and he is starting to get used to mine. We have had pretty good nights so far, he goes to bed between 9 and 10, wakes up around 2:00 AM to be fed and changed, and then sleeps the rest of the night until around 8 in the morning. The dog loves him and has to be near him all the time. He has met both sets of grandparents now.

Amy and Everett are both doing very well. It looks like we will be getting out of the hospital tomorrow morning after the Dr's rounds. It will be nice to get out of here, the hospital is boring and he is sleeping a lot in between eating. It has allowed me time to get the pictures and video out to everyone so I guess that is a good thing.

It's a Boy!!

Hey everyone, still in the hospital. It is a boy! Everett Frank Miller, born March 19, 2007 at 12:40 PM. He was 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 20 inches long. He is perfect. I will try to get some pictures out as soon as I can.

My New Niece

My new niece was born on March 14th at 1:55. Hee name is Clare Venn and here is her first picture. I will post more when we get some more shots of her. She weighed in at 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 21 1/4" tall.

Baby News

Amy's sister just delivered a girl! I have a new niece. Her name is Clare and she was born at 1:55 this afternoon in South Carolina. She weighs a healthy 7 pounds, 12 ounces.

Labor! Round 2

Sorry, still not ours. Amy's sister went into labor this morning at 4:00. She was admitted to the hospital and is having the baby soon. We are awaiting news of whether it is a boy or a girl and how big, and how everything went. I will post something as soon as I know it.

Birthday Gifts

So I got a few baby-related items for my birthday this year. I plan on heavily using both of them.

Not only do I have a baby seat in my car so that he can go off-road with me in the AWD Subaru Outback but when we reach the end of the road I can load him into this all-terrain camouflaged stroller to hit the trail.

Now what would happen if the stroller gets stuck in the mud? Not to worry, I am outfitted with this jeep baby carrier just in case I need to load him in and attempt a walk-out.

DR's Update

Amy had another appointment this morning. Apparently the baby is happy and healthy and just doesn't want to come out of there. There are no signs of labor yet. Amy will have another appointment on the 19th and if he is not out by then we are going into the hospital on the 21st to induce labor. Hopefully he will decide to come on out since the weather has warmed up a bit.

No News Yet

Well we have no news yet to share with everyone. At this point we are playing the waiting game and the last few days have been agonizing. Amy is doing well but starting to hurt a little as the baby is getting bigger and it is wearing on her back. The due date came and went 2 days ago without a rumble. We are hoping for some good news this weekend.

The Due Date

Well the baby is due today and so far he hasn't made an appearance. Amy and I are both very anxious at this point. The average first-born is 4 days late which would put us at the 11th. This means that anyone who voted the baby will come before the 10th is playing against the odds. I had yesterday in the baby pool so I guess I lost my money. We will keep Amy walking and eating spicy foods and hopefully something will happen soon.

New Dishwasher is in

We realized that we had no way of sanitizing bottles so we had to put a dishwasher in. This involved running an electrical line under the crawl space, cutting a hole in the cabinet, sweat-soldering a valve in for the hot water supply and hooking up the waste tube. I decided to put in a garbage disposal while I was at it. It took Amy's dad and I the whole day on Saturday to get the thing in. Here are a few pictures.

Dr.'s Update

I took the morning off work to accompany Amy to the Doctor's for another ultrasound. It turns out, the baby is actually slightly smaller than average, at just under 6 pounds. He is beyond a doubt a he. His heart is pumping away and is his lungs are working, that explains why he gets the hiccups all the time. It looks like everything is going well and he is ready to go at any time. Here is the latest picture of him. If you look right at the top of the ultrasound you can see his face. His chin is to the left. His arm is partially covering and it is squished up against something but you can definately make it out.

Switch Covers

While I was at work yesterday Amy made a few small changes to the nursery. There are two switches and you can see what she did below.

How Big is this Kid?

Amy had a doctor's apointment this morning. The Dr. has told her several times that the baby is larger than average. This morning though she saw the nurse for her checkup and the nurse believes that the baby might actually be smaller than originally thought. Because of this, we have an ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday morning to try to get a good idea of how big the kid is. I haven't seen an ultrasound since 20 weeks so I am excited to join Amy so that I can see what he looks like now. I guess we probably won't know exactly how big he is until he is finally here.

What Will He Look Like?

The baby is coming any day now, we packed a bag this weekend for the hospital and have been keeping gas in the cars just in case we need to head out in a hurry. We are becoming very anxious to meet the new little one and wondering waht he is going to look like, apparently he has more hair than I do already. Amy keeps saying that she hopes he looks like me. I thought that since a picture says a thousand words I would put together this idea for her and take the opportunity to remind her to be careful what she wishes for. Now don't worry, no babies were harmed in the production of this picture.
