Happy Birthday Jack!!!

My baby isn't a baby anymore. Jack is officially a toddler. He is walking, talking and eating like a big man nowadays. He walks around the house all day long, says
Hi
Bye
No
Yeah
Mamma
Dadda
Doggy
Ba-ba
And he eats like a champ. He eats solid foods for all three meals and he eats more than Everett does. He is also quite the mooch and anytime he sees someone eating something, he walks over, points and says, eh (which means let me eat that). He also gives the greatest kisses when you ask.
So lets start off with my other big man. This pic cracks me up...doesn't he look like he stopped at a diner or truck stop somewhere for his morning coffee?
As is tradition, we started off the day with some good ole decorated pancakes.

Then we scooted off to a local farm where we met some cows and the cutest little lambs.

On the way home the boys did the local Easter egg "hunt". Jack cheered his big brother on from the sidelines.

Then we came home for naps and Grandma and Pappa Miller arrived. We opened some great presents for both boys.

Jack got this awesome giraffe tent. Cant wait to take it to the beach!

And Grandma and Pappa played some games with Ev, who got a whole set of lightning McQueen kids games and candy land.

After that we went out to the pizza place with the miniature and real trains.

And came home for some angel food cake. Jack loved the cake, surprise surprise.

I think Jack enjoyed his big day. Thanks to the Millers for coming to visit! Stay tuned for birthday number 3 for Ev and number 2 for Jack next weekend. They just keep coming.
Some golden nuggets from the mind of Everett
  • Mamma, I cant go to bed, it isn't healthy for Everett.
  • Mamma, you can go back to work, I just go to playschool all day.
  • As he ran over my building block building with his car "look mamma, I drive like Aunt Sarah" (this one is one of my favorites).
  • Ev - Mommy are you OK? Me - Yes buddy, just a little upset. Ev - Because Daddy hit you and bite you? (for the record he did not, but I can't wait until he says that little gem in public).

Open Cockpit Day at The Air Museum

I found out through a contact at work that our local Air Museum has open cockpit days and being from Dayton, Ohio (the birthplace of aviation Tad) I couldn't resist taking the kids (Everett and Papa).

We all had a great time. The first plane we came upon was a Corsair. After waiting in line I took Everett up the stairs to the cockpit. I sat him down, he played with the joystick and moved the rudder. After he was done I took him down the stairs to where Papa was waiting for us. I expected to move on but Papa handed me his jacket, said "my turn now," and hopped up the stairs into the cockpit.

Here he is in a couple of the cockpits.

"Officer in Charge." Isn't that the truth.
Here he is in an old Coast Guard Helicopter.

Overall we had a great time, a good boys' day.

Happy Birthday Everett!!

Can you believe Everett is three? I can't but here is proof...

Clint and I have been hard at work putting together the boys' birthday present. We got them an awesome outdoor playhouse which came during a monsoon and in 4500 pieces. It took a while, but we got it done.

We started the morning off right with orange pancakes. Orange is Everett's favorite color.

And some coffee, which Everett says now that he is three, he should be able to drink.

After that we took a walk to our library class and checked out a pre-school for Everett. Jack got tired and fell asleep. Too cute.

Here is a picture of what the house looks like. We don;t know these people, but for some reason we didn't take a picture of our house.

Everett had asked for a chocolate chip orange truck cake, so last night I attempted this feat and pretty much failed. Everett saw it this morning and I asked him if it looked like a truck and he said "no". I asked him if it looked like "towmater" ( from the cars movie) and he said "I guess so Mommy" in a very exasperated tone.
A neighbor came over to play and the boys ate their cake on the new picnic table from Aunt Sarah and Uncle Tad. (I didn't ask permission to put our neighbor on the blog, hence the smiley face)
We had one small accident with the towmater balloon getting away from us and we all tried our best to get it back.
After playtime, we all went out to pizza and ice cream and skyped with Grandma and Pappa Miller and Aunt Danielle.
And here is a cute pic of Everett and I during a run. He is a really good stretcher.
Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes and presents. We love you all.

Happy St. Patrick's day!

How do you know you have been a stay at home mom for too long? Green food of course....

We had a good St. Patrick's day filled with beautiful weather and green food. It is hard to see but, we have green drinks, green rice, green chicken, leaks (they are naturally green) and green cupcakes.

Forgot to mention the green milk.

And a few of the latest and greatest from Everett.
  • Mamma, I make a big toot with my fat bum bum.
  • Don't KILL (pronounce KEEEL) me mamma.
  • You mad at Dadda because he hit and kick you?
  • Mamma, my birthday present is outside, but its a secret, but its a house.

There are some better ones but they are either inappropriate or they slip my mind right now.

How cool is this?!

In other news, Napolean found a friend that doesn't scare him (too much).

And here is a sampling of the great things Everett (who has mastered talking) has said in the last few weeks.

  • Daddy is a boy because he has hair everywhere.
  • I don't like orange juice, damn it.
  • Its okay you can't cook mommy, daddy can do it. Don't worry.
  • No worries Mamma, I take care of it.

Stay tuned for pictures of the awesome present we got the boys for their birthdays!

Jack can walk!

So it has been a little crazy in the Miller house for the last few weeks. Everett got sick, Jack got sick, Jack learned to eat and to walk! So let us catch you up on the happenings.

Jack turned 11 months old. Here he is in all his crazy hair glory.

We got to babysit Bailey again while his parents were in the hospital with their new baby Addie! Bailey is quite the protector and felt compelled to try and get the kids out of what he considered to be a certain deathtrap for them. After about 20 minutes of whining, crying and trying to pull them out, he then tried to get in with them.

The weather has been getting pretty nice, so we decided to take a walk as a fam. As you can see here, Napolean refused to budge and ended up riding with the kids. You know it is bad for him when he chooses to cuddle with Everett over anything else.

And here is Jack who finally realized that solid food can be fun (and messy)!

This is a short video of his newest skill, walking! Look out world, the little imp is on the loose.

And our other news....So Everett has a bad habit of sticking his hands in his mouth.I also think he secretly licks doorknobs when I am not looking...anyway, he brought the plague into the house and suffered with a fever for a few days. He passed it onto his brother and Jack has been sick for a few days now. He got a fever of 104.5 and mom and dad took him to the ER where we witnessed a glimpse into the likings of a Jerry Springer show. It looks like he is on the mend now, and we can officially check off the nervous parents rushing the sick child to the hospital parenting requirement. Check.

Jack has a new trick

So Jack turned 10 months old and decided he needed a new trick to add to his repertoire. Here it is! Do you see him standing there all by himself? Impressive, no?It does tire him out, but there is nothing cozier than a chihuahua stuffed pillow to sleep on.

St. Thomas!!!

We took a family trip to St. Thomas in January and it was fantastic! The boys had a blast in the sun and sand and they came back almost as white as when they left thanks to some great parenting. Here are some pics in no particular order (since blogger is not so user friendly in the picture uploading department).

We didn't want to pay for Everett to fly, so we packed him up in a box and sent him to the house. He arrived in good spirits and no worse for the wear...we are just not sure what he did with his pants.
Here we are on the deck of the house. It had an amazing view and a sweet pool.

Everett has no fear of the water and played in the pool or ocean pretty much every day. Check out that view.

Our favorite beach at the bottom of the hill. Everett made some friends.

He enjoyed some great umbrella drinks. Don't worry, it is light on the rum. Kidding...

H tried a rope swing at the beach in St. John. And again, where did his pants go?

He tried a bit of snorkeling in the pool. Again, pants.

He did some body surfing on Jost Van Dyke, BVI. Here he is with his Aunt and Uncle who were absolutely fantastic with both boys all week.

And here is Jack on the beach. He loved to taste and throw the sand, and just like his big brother, he had no fear of the water and would crawl out as far as he could (before mommy snagged him for fear of his life).

Jack refused to wear glasses, so he spent a lot of time in the shade.

Here is Jack enjoying the view from the house.
I told you he liked to taste the sand.

Everett and Uncle Danny built some great sand castles.

Sandcastles that Jack knocked down when Everett fell asleep.
Check out those sandals. Too cute!

Here we all are at the house.
And here is coral world where we got to feed the sting rays. Can you believe how brave this little guy is. Mommy must love him a lot because that is a dead fish in my hand.

Here the boys are on the ferry from St. John.
And this is a nice shot of downtown.
Here we are in the gondola at paradise point for sunset. We did some dancing at the restaurant on top. The ladies loved Everett's mad dancing skills, especially the bum bum shake.

Some Everett love.

Our favorite beach again.

Jack Jack exploring.

Omar the 400 pound sea lion we met at Coral World. He actually painted us a picture. If you ever come over, ask to see it.

Our favorite beach again.

Coral world shark feeding. Check out his adorable khaki shorts and loafers.

A cool bar at paradise point with swings.

Mamma and her boys. He told Daddy that I kissed that pirate.

Here is that Gondola at Paradise point. Ev loved it because he thought it was a choo choo.

Jost Van Dyke, Soggy Dollar Bar. Awesome spot!

Foxies, on Jost. A definite must see since we hung up a Lyon and Billard (Danny's company) shirt there (local tradition).

Well the vacation was great. It actually tired Everett out quite a bit. Here he is asleep on the plane.

On our favorite beach...

On pappa....

On a hammock on Jost....

On the ferry to St. John...

Our favorite beach.....

and Pappi again....

Great memories. Thanks to the fam for being so great to my boys!
